Once upon a time, there were two mice who were very good friends. One mouse lived in the city, and the other in the village, but they kept in touch with each other through the mice who traveled between the two places. One day, the city mouse felt like visiting his friend in the village, so he sent a message through their common acquaintance mouse to let the village mouse know about his arrival.
The village mouse was delighted to hear the news of his friend’s visit. He started preparing eagerly to welcome his friend. When the day arrived, the city mouse made his way to the village. The village mouse welcomed his friend with great joy, and they both had a lot to catch up on.
After sharing many stories, the village mouse remarked, “I bet there must be a lot of pollution in the city, but here in the village, the environment is quite clean.” After discussing various topics, the two mice felt hungry.
The village mouse served his friend with love, offering fruits, bread, and rice with lentils. They both enjoyed their meal together. After eating, they set out to explore the beauty of the village. When they saw the greenery of the village, the village mouse asked the city mouse, “Do you have such lush landscapes in the city?” The city mouse didn’t respond to this question but extended an invitation for the village mouse to visit the city.
After spending the day exploring, the two mice sat down for dinner. The village mouse once again offered fruits and grains to his friend. They were about to start eating when they heard the sound of a cat. The city mouse quickly advised the village mouse to hide in the burrow, as the cat approached. They hid until the cat left, and then they came out.
The city mouse reassured the village mouse, saying, “Now there’s nothing to fear, my friend. The cat is gone. These things are a part of life, just ordinary matters.” After this incident, they resumed their dinner. The village mouse started eating a piece of cheese and found it delicious. He quickly devoured it. As they were enjoying their meal, the city mouse noticed the village mouse’s fear and asked him about it.
The city mouse explained that the cheese was just a small treat, and the real owner of the house, a dog, often stays there. After the dog left, the two mice came out again. The village mouse was still scared and sought guidance from the city mouse. The city mouse assured him and explained that sometimes life involves risks, and it’s a normal part of living.
Encouraged by his city friend, the village mouse regained his composure. The city mouse suggested that they go back to the village to avoid any further risks. The village mouse thanked his friend for the delicious food but expressed his preference for a simple and secure life in the village. He decided to return home.
As the village mouse reached his village, he felt a sense of relief and peace.
Moral of the Story:
The story teaches us that a simple and secure life, even if less luxurious, is happier than a life filled with dangers and uncertainties.
